    Mommy in hydro, anyone successful

Pretty much, i dont want to deal with soil and pests, i have read up that its not too good to have a mother in a hydro setup and she should be in soil for various reasons, soil on a yearly basis is more stable. Has or does any one have a mommy currently in a hydro setup, if so i would like to hear about your success, or problems.

The only issue with mommy in hydro is they grow too fast. Ive had one for 3 years in hydro and no probs. You learn to slow growth and adjust as you go. GL:jointsmile:

A lot of people dont have/want two hydro setups (one for veg/ One for Bloom), so its tough to keep a mommy without a veg room. A single mom (lol) in a 5 gallon bubbler under a couple of CFLS would be pretty easy to maintain, but since its already separate from the "bloomroom" for lighting puirposes, a soil mom seems a lot easier/cheaper to deal with.

I keep my moms for no longer than three months maybe four. After that I just kill them and start over with neww clones I pic for new moms that way I dont have to worry about triming roots and highth issues.

hmmm...I flower mine when I am through and get a 1/4 lb or so...

No-one ever said it was bad to have MOM in hydro...It just grows fast, as stated above. What I think you read was the point that most growers find it easier and less hassle...along with being able to keep up with foliage...If MOM is in soil. That's all. peace

I read up some where in here that there was a good chance your mom would produce hermies if she was in hydro, that could be do to stress issues, and some one not fullfilling there job. Either way i think it would be a good idea to grow a mom in soil, i wouldnt have to worry about anything and my vegg room water schedual would fit the soil requirments. In hydro- taking a clone off your mom letting her flower and the clone can be your new mommy, that works too, that is if shes grew fast enough. or u can keep one back when u decide to flower your crop, and that can be your mom. I mean there are a million ways to do this, i just really didnt realize it until now.

I had a homemade waterfarm (5gallon), and kept her for 6 yr. under a 400W!!!
The amount of trimming I had to throw away on a weekly basis was out-of-this-world!
Wife and i would pack kids in car and take trips just so we could take out the trash:jointsmile:
