how many watt generator would i need and what is a guess on daily cost if gas is 2.20ish a gallon?
not that i am actually going to do it but it is a fantasy and i am very curious.life is currently at a point where dissapearing for a while is possible(probable) and i own 5 acres in the middle of nowhere

well 6000w in lights... probably another 1000 or more in ac... fans not much...
Look at a 10,000w generator at least and make sure it can take the amps. Get all those lights on seperate timers so they don't all try and fire up at once. Set them to stagger by like 20 minutes.
Remember that running watts and rated peak watts for those things are totally different.
    Noise is an issue.
    Exhaust is an issue too.
Hondas are quiet, indestructible, and expensive.
Look in the Northern Tool online catalog... you'll find some interesting stuff.
You have to take care of them just like a car engine.
Diesels are even hardier and have a longer life.
And it's a lot less sketch and safe BTW having heating oil delivered for your diesel than lugging lots of gasoline around all the time.
Is there a house on the property or even a cabin that you could legitimately have fuel delivered to 'for heat'?
What about biodiesel since it's becoming more readily available and also has the benefit of not being an explosion hazard.
I'v thought about this... also wind power... seems like a major pain in the ass if it's not mean to be a permanent setup.

my eventual goal would be to have a completely solar setup.small one room cabin with a very nice sized outbuilding eating up 10000 watts.this would help me purchase that within a few crops.i don't really like the idea of burning gasoline(bad for the enviroment and all)but the ends justify the means.....right....and no there is no cabin...there used to be but my sister burnt it down in a young and drunk episode.there are two campers and a barn.i figure hit 10 gas stations filling up 1 or 2 five gallon containers each whenever it is needed rather than have it delivered(to much work maybe but like i said this is all a dream anyhow.
northern tools is a fun place to dream

Well yeah... ya know, wind power is the way to go. Northern has those 400w windmills all shiny and new... mmmm....
If you have to spend that much time on fueling you might as well go guerilla and spend the time visiting your plants.
Or to add bulk take the CO2 plunge...

well,i sorta let this thred die huh?i have still been looking around and i think that i will cut down a little(6 600s seems more realistic,8000 watt gas generator converted to propane, running twelve hours a day rather than 24 so the 3 400s in veg will run off real electricity)should take about $10000,might be up and running this time next year.or maybe i am still dreaming

That's a COOL dream, there, c of green.

Let us know if you ever manage to concoct some fake pictures of a setup like that.

i would think that being off the grid would help lessen chances of trouble.that and dealing with trusted PERSON!!(not people!!)already learned that lesson. Not to mention it is all a lie anyway.I may need meds for this compulsion.
