    Click or Flick?

Well my clicking lighter broke on me and I think they are all a piece of shit now. I think I'll stick with the lighters that you have to flick to make them work. So I was just wondering which one do you prefer?

LOL no, I never used a lighter like this. And click lighters are just butane lighters. The ones where you click down on the lever or what ever you wanna call it for it to light. The correct name for the Flick lighters are called Naphtha lighters in case you're wondering.

I hate click lighters so much. They don't "feel" right like flick ones do, I find flick lighters extremely easy to light and don't feel as cheap.

Hmm. Never really thought of that one.

I guess I'll say click 'cause I've never broken one, while I have lost soooo many flints on flick lighters. God that is annoying.

Either way, it really doesn't matter.

you got it all wrong guys.
a napatha/wick /zippo type lighter uses napatha(a refined petrol i think?) as a fuel, these are no good for bowls.

a bic uses the same lighting mechanism as a zippo, except that you immediately hit a button to release butane(flammable gas with a MUCH more complete reaction). i assume this is what he means by a flick lighter.

this click lighter he speaks of is actually called "piezoelectric"(piezoelectric materials are ones that produce a small charge when compressed(and vibrate when charged, thats what the quartz in your digital watch does!). the problem with these is that after a while the little piezoelectric mechanism can die. BUT DON'T LET THIS DETER YOU FROM PEIXOELECTRIC LIGHTERS! its usually jstu the cheap ones that fail because well...they're cheap.

and since im feeling nice, those jet or torch lighters you see, ALSO use butane, except they mix a little bit of oxygen with the butane before its ignited, created a more instant reaction(also more complete, logically, these should taste better than a bic). these always use a piezoelectric ignition, and are notorious for failing after a few months(although properly maintained one will last a LONG time!)

yeah, sorry for the science lesson. but that should clear things up.

and by the way, i usually prefer bic lighters, i find that other ones of a similar genre, are also good, but after a little while, the non bics flame gets slowly tinyer and tinyer

Yeah, I stick to the throw away Bic lighters now. I wish there was a way to refill them though . But yeah I think mines broke on me because it was cheap. Thank God I had the idea to not use the Bic and keep it as a back-up lighter in case something happened to the lighter I usually used. This sucks though, now I have to walk in this cold weather tomorrow to get another lighter because I didn't notice that I shouldn't be using the Bic which couldn't be refilled when I had a lighter that I could refill with butane. But it was too late when I realized that lol.
