Cannabis is a really hardy plant and it's real easy to grow. All you need is light (cfl's or other flourescents work well for one plant), fresh air and nutrients. Keep it simple and you will be able to keep it alive, I guarantee it.

Don't believe everything your friend says. You don't need to water every day and the plant likes to be somewhat dry between waterings. The soil does not need to be damp all the time.
