to humor you, the pot block is an area around hastings street and cambie, where there are a bunch of pot-related stores. there is two stores that sell seeds, the marijuana party headquarters (aka the cannabis culture HQ- the magazine), and the amsterdam cafe. there was also another store that used to be around, but it burnt down.
I'm reading that book right now! Its amazing, I wanna make a trip to Vancouver soon to check out the pot Block I live in Nelson, BC so I'm not that far away from Vancouver. Might have to go there soon, maybe for a weekend trip or somethin. Seeing Emerey's shop would be like a dream and a half, and to meet the prince of Pot himself, oh my indeed!!

hey everybody  i'm thinking of moving to Vancouver because with everything i hear it just shocks me...i currently live in the east coast (USA) haha and it's just been horrible...the people, the treatment, the culture...i've been sick for a while and really got to see how it is, canada seems like it represents a lot more...and everything about vancouver sounds great, the enviorment, people, of cource the mary jane it just seems really diverse and that's what i love because i love nature just as much as city and action just as much as relaxing...little bit of everything and i'm dying for a big change when things shape up

but my maiiiin question, is how is it money wise? if you were to rent a place out with a few working friends, would it be simple? keep in mind that where i live is rhode island and lots of people struggle...canada as a whole seems like it just works differently, but i'm just curious on how living is money wise, but wouldn't surprise me if it's better than here even if it's a tourist spot....hopefully someone can just fill me in on the renting/housing as whole, what's it like? even what the houses look like, small silly shit like that interests me :rasta:

^ Hey. It's cool thinking about moving up to Vancouver. Here's some things to keep in mind:

The Pot Situation: Everybody smokes and the pot here is usually abundant, good and pretty cheap. But, keep in mind that weed is completely illegal here in Canada and it's not like cops will never, ever hassle you for it. So don't think Vancouver is like Amsterdam in that way.

The Housing Situation: I'm not sure where in the US you're from, but housing is pretty ridiculous in Vancouver. House prices go up like fifty percent every year. Rent prices therefore get affected too. You should be fine for a decent place if you find a decent job and maybe get a roommate or two

Also keep in mind it might no too too easy to find a job here in Vancouver. If you're after minimum wage you can find a job no problem, but if you have some career in mind you'd be better off moving somewhere like Alberta.

yeah a basic little job is all i'm after, not really a career for a while...i'm sure housing is better depending on the parts, i wouldn't be looking to be right in downtown, as long as it's near there and a nice area it's good to me, doesn't have to be anything special....but sometime this year i plan to take a trip there and if i like it, move not that long from then...as far as the pot situation, yeah, i know that, but hey it's still great....nobodies saying you need to run around smoking in the streets too or anything haha...i heard it's very close to being legalized though in the upcoming years? with the support it gets, don't see why it wouldn't

^ You should be fine for a job. All the stores I ever walk past have a sign saying they are hiring.

Pot was going to be decriminalized but a new political party came to power and now it probably won't be happening for a long time. Mainly because the new government wants to be pals with the US and the US would never go for legalizing pot.
