MastaChronic is wrong on two things. First dreading your hair by not washing it and ltting it tangle is disgusting, and makes the dread really loose.

Second that guy has naturally curly hair, or a chemical change.

your the one whos wrong. i did just what i told green to do and my dreads did not come out loose or disgusting, they dont smell at all and they are tight.
dont argue with me on this, i got my information from a guy whos had dread for 12 years and they hang past his ass and his directions worked, so dont argue with me.

youre right, my mother doesnt do hair, i don't come from a long line of people who have had dreads, i never had them before in my life, and i'm not getting them again.

You can go to a hair salon and get a wave put in it. Its like a perm but not as curly. If has to be redone every few months cause it will eventually wear out.

You'll have to get a perm...or curl it every time you wash your hair with hot curling iron...which is a lot more work.

just let it grow (keep it clean) and let the chips fall where they may. for all you know that guy has had a perm and highlights added. just find out what you end up with by letting it grow on its own, you might even like the outcome.

you know what? we're both right, im doing my dreads in the caveman style of neglect and what your describing is twist and rip. neglect is older that twist and rip but it doesnt make any difference in the long run, they both rlook the same basically. i dont got real long dreads, they only come down to about an inch lower than my ear but they're still fat, not skinny.
