But it seems like in the end it will be like letting s kid burn their fingers on the stove so they know never to touch it again... you are going to grow much safer from now on, with only a minimal loss now.
So actually I think a pat on the back for taking the next step in security is in order.
Good luck getting things straightened out, hope you didn't lose any genetics anyway! If I lost my garden I'd be upset but if I lost my seed collection I'd be heartbroken and probably bawl for a week.

WHEN I WENT INTO MY GROW ROOM, ( A GUTTED TRAVEL TRAILER), I SAW WHAT THEY DID. THEY BUSTED A WINDOW LOCK FROM THE OUT SIDE, USED A KNIFE TO CUT THRU THE 3" INSULATION BOARD, MAKING A 6" BY 12" HOLE. Rating: 5
