Above the Influence Commercial
That was a parthetic attempt at getting kids off drugs. At least they got over that "gateway drug" garbage. That was back before I smoked though, but looking back it really gets me angre because pot usually just happens to be the first thing everyone tries because its so harmless..
Chronic.Tonic Reviewed by Chronic.Tonic on . Above the Influence Commercial I just saw a commercial for the anti-drug agency called Above the Influence. In the commercial or propaganda reel to which it shall henceforth be referred, average American (actors) are caught up in a craze of affixing leeches to their body for an implied high. (Paying no attention to the fact that the use of leeches does have actual medical benefits, in my opinion.) At the end of the commercial, the sobering message: What Could You Be Convinced to Do? is broadcast against a solid black Rating: 5

That is probably the most sad commercial I ever seen. It doesn't even correlate with any concept of reality, right down to the joint. Does above the influence think teenagers are stupid?

Hahah, go to the above the influence website SLOM section (where this video can be found), and read all the stuff there.. infact read the whole site. It's Hilarious.
"Example: Those who engage in SLOMming (sticking leaches on myself) often fear not fitting in or simply enjoy being a sheep in the flock of life. Notable sheep have included: fans of White Snake, people that wear parachute pants, and that 20-year-old guy who still hangs out at all the high school parties"

Well put, Chris!
I like how they make out peer pressure to be something that is EVERYWHERE. I've never felt pressure to smoke pot. When I was younger and stupider, filled with the anti-drug mentality from grade school, I was totally against all drugs.
The DARE came in, and I saw how cool drugs really were.
Yeah, make your own decisions. I did, I smoke pot, and I am happy with my decision. DARE was a success!

Ditto. I've done some of my best housecleaning while stoned.Originally Posted by secretgarden
Those commercials are so laughable! The message they try to send is weed keeps you from enjoying life & peer pressure is bad. But yet, they make those ads to pressure people into not smoking weed. No pressure there, huh? I've had no trouble enjoying life, motivating myself and such. In fact, weed helps certain activities become more enjoyable.
