    Working out?

Is anyone here into working out, running, physical fitness in general? Since I have been out of high school and out of organized sports I have found it important to me to continue to do physical activity's. Working out(weight lifting) has proven to be one of my favorite activity's. You have to look at it form the right angle though.

I have always played team sports. Lacrosse and Football were my sports, but I played virtually every one. Never an individual sport though like golf, tennis, or cross country. This is what I find fun and new about weight lifting, there is nobody but you, no team to fail, only you. It takes discipline, time, energy, mental toughness, and many other qualities that I think are important to have in life.

It's great when you set a goal for yourself, create a plan on how to acheive that goal, put in the work, and acheive it. There are no excuses in lifting, nobody else to blame it on, you know if you did the work necessary or not.

I don't compete in any competitions, I do it for myself. I quite for about 6 months and have started back up again the past two months and I wonder why I ever quite at all. Dedication is one of the best qualities a person can have and sports are an intrical part in learning how to be a dedicated person.

So what are your thoughts on it?

Music is another good example of how to learn these things but that is for another thread.

oh yea, and getting high after you work out, probably in the top ten of best feelings a person can have.

I try to run when I can but I don't exercise like that. I do stay healthy with my exercises though. I just don't feel right smokin all day and not exercising my body anymore and it has helped me quite a lot. I don't even get bothered by my lungs anymore, but when I try to do pull ups I feel pain in the right area of my chest. In the lung area. But overall I feel way better than I used to.

shovel. How long have you been lifting, what's your body type, and what are core lifts?

I have been lifting for about 2 months now but before that I was lifting for about 3 years straight. Right now my bench is hovering around 265, squat about 405, and deadlift about 350. I am 5'6" 190lbs.

    Bucknuts.
I'm a has been. I am crippled up from old work injuries. Shoulders and wrists are buggered up badly. Many balled up surgical preocedures and I'm on disability retirement. All I do now is screw around in a heated pool and spa everyday and walk when the weather permits

What I topped out at around 10 years ago in 1996 was...
lifting in the 45 yo AAU Master 181 lbs class.

We lifted for points, the three lifts and their total.

My best bench was a mere 220 lbs.
    Best Squat was 490 Lbs
Best Dead Lift was 525 Lbs.
Best total (as far I the one I remember) 1210 lbs.

btw, I was very active in motorcycle dragracing at the same time. <G>
