That's the stuff. According to Bentham, happiness is the only thing desirable in itself. Everyone wants to be happy. Why do this? Why do that? Why be happy? At this question we can stop and so does the infinite regress. I'm a preference utilitarian compared to Benthams Act utilitarianism though. Since happiness is subjective, everyone should follow their own preferences.
