Yes, it is known as the curse of the seed of cain doctrine. it was abandoned in 1978. They believe that if you were born with dark skin, it is because you were a bad person in the pre existence. One must go through an endowment ceremony that was somewhat controversial and changed in 1990 for that reason.

After going through endowment ( a weird ceremony shrouded in secrecy), one must wear at all times sacred undergarments which are weird looking. They are supposed to protect you from evil. I will try to attach a picture.

At the endowment ceremony, you will be taught some secret handshakes which will be necessary for you to get into heaven

Mormons may not discuss, even among themselves, the endowment ceremony for it is considered to be too sacred to discuss. Its just so weird of a ceremony that they know it can turn many people away from mormonism.

I have talked to someone i know that was raised mormon and gave it up at the age of 18. He says he is convinced it is a cult. His parents are still mormon but he doesnt want his kids growing up in it. It is a crazy ass religion indeed.
