    Any Poets Here?

Does anybody else here write poetry? Share your work here! Come on, don't be discouraged by the fact that you're probably insane if you're good at poetry. Here's a poem I wrote recently that I call "The Mystery Of Misery":

On Christmas morn a child wakes to find her mother dead
in a pool of scarlet red
with a bullet through her head.

In Israel, a bus explodes because a pious man
thinks his god made a command
to kill the Jews upon his land.

A homeless lady wanders through the streets in solitude.
It's been days since she has chewed
the smallest morsel of some food.

A cancer patient tells his family he is going to die.
He won't live to see July
and it's time to say goodbye.

In Africa, a little girl is tragically deformed,
    her clitoris from body shorn
    in ritual considered norm.

A family dog has rabies so it's being put to sleep,
and it dies without a peep
as the family starts to weep.

A Catholic priest molests a boy and warns him not to say
a single word about the way
the priest mistreated him that day.

A man who's recently divorced has given up all hope.
    With his life he cannot cope;
around his neck he ties a rope.

A soldier tortures enemy combatants in a cell
with a treatment worse than hell,
    taking pleasure as they yell.

What kind of god, what kind of karma lets this sort of thing
    happen every day to bring
    misery and suffering?

    Loved the article.

Poem grabs you by the throat. Reminds me of Jotie 't Hooft, a european poet. Nice work.

    i am dark and deep
    my words will creep
    like little bo peep
    and all of her sheep

    all the sheep were nice
    although they smoked ice
    we rolled some dice
    and ate some voluptuous rice

    the rice was real good
it came straight out the hood
    and that was really good
    really, really, good

    and the trees were growing
    and i was sowing
    my many fields for toking
like a too too train, smoking

    because im the best man
    in all of the land
ill slap you with my hand
and give your face my brand
    its not that i planned
when this sequence will end, and
the last line was not bland
like a cotton mouth saliva gland

this great poetry took many years
    so cheers
    heres beers
    and plenty of mary here

    although i must go
    all of you know
    go slow
    in school zones hoe
    fo sho
    yo yo.

Here's to cheese and wine and beer and bread
And all that makes life worth living
Here's to friends and love and joy instead
Of thinking of whom we're missing

Here's to laughter, songs, and music, all
Where would we be without it?
A living hell, a darker world
But the music's here; don't doubt it.

So hold your sweetheart by the hand
    And take a chance tonight
Life's too short to fret and frown
So, my friends, let’s do it right:

    Pack the bong up
    Roll a spliff
A blunt will do, as well
No matter how you choose to smoke
Let's make heaven out of hell.

I had nearly 100 poems on my old computer. Than that piece of shit dell crashed and the word files weren't recoverable. Than I couldn't find the back up disk. Haven't written much since.

    rofl Your style reminds me of my first experience in high school. She was an amazing teacher. But she was addicted to crack before she started teaching. And yeah o.o She was amazing besides the fact that she did crack and not the herb. Ney ways the schizophrenia thing about poets made me giggle you see I only talk to my self and not often but when I'm home alone bored to death and nothing to do but smoke is when I answer my self. o.o;

    Any Poets Here?

Here is a poem that I wrote and was actually put into a book from poetry.com. I was suprised when they sent me the book because I didnt never even paid for it in advance like you are suspose to. They sent it too me with a bill for it.

Through my eyes you can see I've had it rough
My short life has been long and tough
I've been through trials and tribulations
That seemed unfair but taught me patience
Through my eyes you can see I've been mistreated
And all those times I wish could be deleted
Through my eyes you can see my pain
And the innocence I wish I could regain
Through my eyes you can see my tears
And all those times I wish I could disappear
Though I know my time is not up
The road before me is long and rough
Through my eyes you can see my fear
And watch as I shed one small tear
And when you hold me so close and tight
I get the feeling everything will be alright
For you are the one God sent to me
To bring me out of my despair and misery
