I have smoked pot for about 35 years- with a 9 year break after I quit drinking (that drug almost killed me!) and was afraid it would cause me to relapse. But then my mom died and I thought "life is too short to live without smoking pot" - because I love it! I write very nice poetry when I'm high. I find it easier to stay in the moment.
I went back to school as an adult (after dropping out to be a model/actress for several years) and maybe that is why I wasn't distracted. I think teenagers should be very cautious about smoking too much weed though, because their brains are still developing, and they don't have very disciplined work habits. It's better to keep it to the weekends if you are trying to learn new things in school, but for artistic endeavors, pot can help free the muse
