I am not here to flame, I come in peace. Can someone explain to me the strategy behind soccer, like how your un plays, set picks, etc. The way I see it and from playing a little bit understand is it is kind of setup like lacrosse or hockey. You have a goalie, some defensive players, some midfielders who play both, and some attackmen who play offense only. It is very similar to Lacrosse as I see it. One team could have an explosive offense so they let's say they get a shot on thei goal and the goalie saves it. He would now want to clear this ball to his attackmen as fast as possible to catch the other teams midfielders off guard and create a favorable matchup and a chance at a shot on goal. Close? Another team could be set up as a very skilled deliberate bunch who focus on getting the ball to all members of the team and moving the ball always while moving down field, because eventually there will be a gap in the defense which is when you strike and strike hard. Close?

This is what I have seen by watching it.
