Any M/F relationship - Stretchy vs Bushy plants?

Half of my plants are short & bushy & half are tall and stretchy - all are under the same light, same nutes, same everything. Most are the same strain. Is it just different phenotypes or is one or another a trait of male or female plants?

males tend to be more lanky and stretched than females, which will be more short and bushy then males.. but still i have seen lanky ass plats grow into females. so there is no real way of getting a definite answer from just what they look like.. i think

Thanks Harris7 & Budbreath...I was thinking pretty much along those same lines as both of you.

My dilemma is I have too many plants and was always planning on thinning the herd when they showed sex but they are starting to grow at an accelerated rate now and I am getting a bit anxious to repot into their final pots but I just need to chill. They should be showing preflowers in a week or so...this is almost like childbirth (from a male perspective at least lol)

I've always heard that too but have not found it to be true enough to go by. I have the same problem with some of my plants in hydro--same light etc but some stretch like beasts even directly 2 feet under the light (1kw) and then been females--great for lst---but I've never figured out why....

I've heard that usualy lanky plants are male and bushy ones are female
    however
I've had lanky plants become female and bushy one's turn out to be male. so i don't really buy into the theory. Personally i'd flower them and let them show me what they are. if you have males next to females remove them asap or they will pollinate your females and you'll get seedy buds. unless ofcourse you want to breed.

It's true that male plants tend to grower tall and lankier. This is to facilitate the spreading of their pollen over the females, which tend to be shorter.

However, in this new day and age of cross breeding it could very well be different phenotypes, especially if you have 50/50 indica/sativa. So, like they said, flower them all to make sure.

Males also tend to flower quicker so you should be able to pick out all the males well before the females start full speed flowering.

I keep my quickest flowering male and always use its pollen to make seeds with my best females. Hopefully, in this way I can eventually have a quicker flowering plant.

..if you end up with too many females..for your space...AND have a dark room available....(soil?)

..you can do it the hard way..like I did....rotate half...every twelve hours..from the growroom to the dark room...during flowering...that let's the fat girls spread out...

    ..it's a lot of work...but doubles your yield...I'd do it again...in a heartbeat..enjoy..
