I think I have diabetes
This morning in Anatomy class we took urine samples from ourselves and performed several tests. One of the tests was a glucose test (blood sugar) and minetested postive and my teacher said that is a sine of diabetes. I talked to her and told her the fact that I have a history of diabetes on both sides of my family and she told mewe would test it again tommorow morning. I also talked to my dad and I have a appointment to be tested proffesionally for diabetes on the 16th

Good luck... do you have any other symptoms?
Do your family members have Type 1 (Insulin-dependent) or Type 2 (so-called "late onset")?

Chances are you have something called insulin resistance, as Type 1 diabetes usually has blood sugars lower than average... If you're overweight and eat a lot fo sugar, this could be the case. If so, then this isn't diabetes, but more of a pre-diabetes stage.
Either that, or you could have had a good amount of sugar before the test. There really is no "negatvie" or "positive" test for diabetes, but if it's in your urine, this could definately point to pre-diabetes or diabetes. Best of luck!

I think I have diabetes
I was diagnosed in 1999 with it. I was constantly thirsty (drank more than a normal person does), tired, and urinated alot constantly had to pee, i also lost a ton of weight with out dieting etc... these are all signs that you could be diabetic. i found out for sure when i was hospitalized that year and when running blood tests they told me i was. they tried putting me on pills for it at first but that didnt help they then placed me on insulin.... Hope that you dont have it and good luck......

Mine isn't too bad, now that I've lost weight (235+, down to 175). I've quit sugar and use stevia (Owl's Nest Plantation is the best online source I've found). I also found that cinnamon does help your blood sugar level. I make a "curry" mix of garlic, cinnamon, ginger and tummeric and put it in capsules. Just 4 each night drops my blood sugar by about 20 points on my glucose monitor. In kids, one of the things that are a tip-off for diabetes, is what looks like a dirty neck. One of my students has it. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of blindness and amputations in adults. So lose weight, make up some curry and lay off the sugar! - Granny:hippy:

This is a great mixture to know about, Granny! What are the parts-proportions of the four spices in the mixture? Equal parts of each?
I'm having some trouble with hypoglycemic spells right now that may be a result of one of my heart electicity meds, from what I've read. I wonder if the same type of mixture would help with stability from a hypo standpoint? I'm tired of this shaky, weak feeling I'm having, and I normally just eat something. But I want the dives themselves to level off.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

Yep, equal parts of each, Bird Girl. The cinnamon is the part that helps even out the blood sugar the most, from what I understand. So you might want to go a little heavier on it. Hope you feel better soon, dear!- Granny:hippy:
