Phenylketonuria is a condition, albeit a rare condition that all hospitals test for at birth- it's essentially an inability to digest phenylalanine because of lack of certain proteins in the bile... We do PKU tests everyday at the hospital I work at, about 100 of them on newborns, and I've only ever seen one result as positive.

It's pretty rare to have PKU, but yeah, phenylalanine is REALLY dangerous for those with it.
