    Ventilation Question

I was wondering how a ventilation system with a carbon filter works?
Does the exhaust air go through the carbon filter then outside? If so, wouldn't there be traces of odour since the filter can't get rid of all the smells?

Which is the best venting system I should use to make sure there are no smell leaks?

    Ventilation Question

Ideally you would have a carbon filter attached to a fan that would suck air through the filter and back into the room, therefore continuously scrubbing the air. A separate extraction fan would then take care of the ventilation. However, oftentimes monetary factors prevent people from buying two fans.

Depending on the size of your grow there could be traces of smell left in the air if it is only scrubbed once, and then evacuated. The best way to to employ the system I described above: two fans, one w/ scrubber, and one for extraction.

    Ventilation Question

it dosn't matter. i've seen them set up both as the exhaust intake and the exhaust end of the exhaust.

the best way to avoid smell leaks is to have a negative pressure in your grow room...

to do that you have your exhaust fan stronger than your intake. then any small holes were air exchange could occur will be intake vents. so no worries.

the filters work very well, and the slower the air goes through them the better.

    Ventilation Question

i've never heard of people needing to scrub the air twice. in real life, and in big ass grows in videos.

if your worried about dogs smelling it, you cant do much about that

    Ventilation Question

yea the pressure thing is good advice. in my room I have a 12" fan pushing air in and a 12" sucking air out thru a carbon filter. the only smell that excapes the room is through the AC unit...with the carbon filter on the "exit" side of the room I can put my face up in the vent when the fan is on and not smell anything and that's with 50 stinky plants right before harvest...
