    spindly plants.....

HI! I am a first time grower and really knew very little when I started, and now do not know how to fix what I have done wrong. I was hoping someone out there could help. I am super sure I need to scrap what I have and start over, but here's what I have, just in case. I soaked them over night and planted in soil that has fast acting and slow acting food in it as well as micronutrients. I got a grow light made by GE that is flourescent and is supposed to be a "perfect combination" of the red/blue rays, etc. The leaves started to turn a light brown/yellow and fall off, and the stem is very thin. Other leaves were very green. I got some fertilizer to spray the leaves, as I was then told to feed the plants through the leaves. The leaves have goten greener and are pretty, but some are still falling off. The stems are getting a little thicker and are a bright green. I am watering correctly, have drainage holes and am using water that has set out for a few days to get rid of the bad downtown crap in it. The light is on 16/8 and not burning the leaves. I do not know if this has anything to do with it, but I do think I planted them too far down to begin with. I am sure it is hard without a pic to know what is going on, but I thought I would ask just the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Happy smoking!!

I've never heard of anyone doing a 16/8 light cycle. 18/6 is much better.

Thanks for posting. I started to pull some of them up. I didn't know they fall off. I will change to 24/0 and see what happens. Thanks so much.

After switching to a 24h a day light cycle for about 8 days, it looks like I have 2 buds coming up. Thanks for the help.

Soil With nuts: in it is not good for young plants, because you cant flush,it releases nuts: every time you water,...City water no good can use,but go catch some rain water to flush with or go get some water from a creek, lake, stream, branch water, river, all a 100 times better than city water no matter what you do to it..Give the plants what nature gives them....
