Lower your PH to about 5.8 and, you're right, you don't need nutrients till the plant is 3-4 weeks old.
And I would sprout the seeds between damp paper towels before placing them in your medium.

ok but how do i lower the ph? i dont have any ph down. is it absolutely necessary for me to germinate with paper towels? im using cococoir and perlite and the cococoir retains water really well. is my water ppm ok?

No it's not necessary, just faster. It will take at most two days for you to see a tap root and this way you don't put any dud seeds in your hydro setup. Plus you don't have to do anything to the water when germinating this way. Plus you don't use up all that water in your res when you don't need it.
For PH down some people use vinegar or some other form of organic acid but I don't recommend it. It's better to go to the local hydro store and get phosophoric acid. It's not expensive.
Don't worry about your water PPM. It won't cause any problems.

read a book on growing hydroponics, your asking the very basic of questions that are answered in details no one wants to repeat. There are countless threads on all the questions you have and there are in depth detailed growing logs, and how-to's. I would suggest downloading, Growing with Mr. Green, its a very easy step by step video, we are all willing to help newbies who are willing to put in the effort themselves. However asking basic questions we see everyday makes us feel like your abusing the point of the forum.

guide and share any wisdom you have in a kind way, maybe all that is needed is direction.

Blondie I see your point but I see Jack's also. Here is a sample of a few of the questions I have seen on this forum 1. My seed has been in the soil for 20 hours and has not sprouted. Whats wrong? 2. Had my plant under 12 hour lights for about 2 weeks now. When can I start taking weed off it? You are right when you say there isn't always time to do research but I seem to see a LOT of growers who would rather someone else do their thinking for them and it does get old! Sure everyone has a quick question now and then and no one minds that but when you see several questions in a row with answers that are easily accessible to anyone it becomes obvious who's doing the work and who's not.
I shall now climb down off the soapbox and calm down with a joint. Peace.Haze(y) Grow Log:

I've searched and read on here for months now, and even so I still come up with questions where I've already read all the threads and there is conflicting answers or still unclear. Also, when it's YOUR plants, it feels good to just ask.
For example, red veins/redness on main stalk. Blotchy rusty spots. Those are a couple of issues I'm studying because I have both of those, and it's everything from too much of this or that nutrient, or nutrient lockout, or nutrient deficiency, or even mold or parasite.. I think I'm going to have to resort to posting pics in the plant problems forum even though there are dozens of threads already..

How are your plants doing otherwise? Growing? Seem happy or generally sort of blah?
