i know compton fucking sucks to live in, is that anywhere near LA or surroundings?
$1500 in LA can get you a decent place, but it won't be close to a lot of the hotspots (Clubs, Studios, etc etc)

Avoid - Compton, Gardena, Athens, Watts, Paramount, Downey, Florence, Alhambra, El Monte - the graffiti should point you elsewhere..

Not Bad - Torrance, Hawthorne, Manhattan Beach, Carson, Whittier, Glendale, El Segundo

Nice but $$$ - Marina Del Rey, Palos Verdes, Pasadena, Malibu, Century City, Santa Monica, Brentwood - These places are worth it if you can find a roommate

I lived in the LA area for ~ 20+ years, and theres good areas in bad neighborhoods, and vice versa everywhere. OC is a little nicer for the most part but more of a commute to the basin
Tokudai Reviewed by Tokudai on . on my way to California it turns out i might be moving to Cali soon so what can anybody who lives there now tell me about it? where are some relatively safe areas to live in the state itself but particularly Los Angeles (keeping in mind i'm on a lower budget)? also, is any where that's going to have rent below $1500 in the LA area going to be a complete dump? anything else worth mentioning? and if anybody can answer these two questions as well that'd be great: - for anybody who's lived in both Canada and Rating: 5
