Love is patient and kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

The type of respect earned through fear is not true respect at all... just a self-preservation instinct....it's like how someone might say "you have to respect electricity" but the respect you might have for an artist or a great thinker or a brilliant leader- That is the real deal.

Like Mr. Bush should know that the FEAR tactics utilized in his policies have earned him no respect at all. Proof that fear does not breed respect.

    .
    Well there's a perfect example!
When he is gone and we don't fear him any more, the only thing left will be scorn.
(edit: Thank God his daughters are total dingbats and the dynasty dead-ends with them!)

Well, that may be true, but in the case of bin Laden and al Quada's supporters - they need to fear us. Whether or not Bush's tactics have accomplished this is another question better left to the "Politics" forum.

That's also true - and there will be a lot of debt for us to pick up, among other problems.

I think its hard to really respect someone/ some thing if I fear it. Respect is better when you earn it with good deeds than with intimidation and fear

    i have a question about " RESPECT "

for those of you who respect LIFE
wouldnt it make sense that the same life force
that runs thru an ants body or a cockaroachs body
is the same force that inside maybe a grizzly bear or a wolf

if you respect i would assume that wiping out a ant colony
would be the same as exterminating a wolf pack
