hmmmm, well lavasoft is the company that makes adaware, so I'm not sure what you mean by "lavasoft and adaware". run a free online scan from www.trendmicro.com as well, plus get Ewido anti-spyware from www.ewido.net . Adaware is only going to get simple spyware, not viruses/trojans/worms and the such.

Also, assuming you're working with windows XP, do the following:

Go into START, RUN, type in chkdsk /f , wait a while till it asks you if you want to run it y/n, and press "Y" then enter. Then restart your computer. chkdsk will run on bootup, don't press anything.

Then do the same thing again, but instead type "chkdsk /r". This one will take a good deal longer to run.

Also go into your control panel, Ad/Remove Programs, and look for a program called "180SearchSolutions". If you see that, it's a common spyware trojan that needs to be removed. I would remove it in safemode however:

Go into safemode by restarting your computer, you'll get the initial black startup screen, then it'll blink and show another start up screen for just a few seconds. You must press F8 while that brief screen is in effect. Then select "start in safemode" (without networking or command prompt) and allow your computer to start up. Your screen will be black and you may get some annoying beeping from your system but that's normal. Then remove 180 searchsolutions or any other pieces of spyware you may recognize, and restart your computer and it'll boot up normally.
