Thanks Kindprincess, I'll keep that in mind for my next transplants. I like the thought of root and plant growth exploding. It makes perfect sense! I learned the hard way that 3 gallon pots would be more suitable for my girls' final resting place. And because of this I learned what was going wrong with Sophie....her soil was packed tightly and her roots nearly surfaced so I had to perform major surgery. I loosened up her soil quite rigorously and in the process was forced to sever some roots. Of course her growth has been stunted as a result but I think the looser soil and better oxygen intake will do her such good that she'll bounce back with vigor! Thanks again....Peace!
