    HiPro's first grow log!

    Heya,
The Afghani Dream I was growing didn't smell too stank, and the odor that it DID have was almost vanilla-ish, even through curing!

    True DAT!!!
Skiers are notorious for having lots of green to spend on ...um... green! LOL, maybe I will finally ski sugarloaf this year and be one of those annoying yups with the out-of-state plates and European sportwagon with Thule racks!!! Tee hee!!!!

Aach, he gets no sympathy from me. He's a nice guy but he's a dealer and that's just the chance you take. I have VERY little patience for dealers, period, unless they grow their own product.

Well, if you ever do decide to come up to Sugarloaf, let me know and I'll make sure you get the royal treatment while you visit! I am so used to being around yuppies and out-of-staters that another one coming through is no big deal.
Intuition tells me that you'd be a good friend, so maybe on your way you could make a pit stop so I can buy you and your man some drinks! (Gotta pay you back for all your help somehow!)
Dealers, yeah, I agree, I think the herb should be free and free of dealers. They've done so much to blacken mj's reputation!
On a grower's note, I decided to change back to my original grow room. The old room got too hot, well over 80degrees, and that's with two fans constantly running, so, not wanting Crystal and company to die, I had no choice. I think they'll appreciate the move!
Please trip them gently, they don\'t like to fall, oh by jingo. There\'s no room for anger, we\'re all very small, oh by jingo. We\'re painting our faces and dressing in thoughts from the skies, paradise, oh by jingo. Won\'t someone invite them? They\'re just taller children, that\'s all, afterall. Some march together and some on their own, quite alone. Others are running, the smaller ones crawl but some sit in silence, they\'re just older children, that\'s all.

Just a quick question: Crystal is now 17days old, can someone recommend some good nutrients that I can get easily? I'm not concerned about cost, just the availability. (I don't want to order on-line!) Any help is greatly appreciated.

The box stores even are starting to sell organics.
A decent quality fertilizer for grow... you could use lots of different things, there's a line called Jack's Classic that a lot of garden stores carry that has the micronutrients. The schultz line is okay to get going on anyway. Alaska fish fert is a great N source but not a complete fert with micros, so you have to get them elsewhere. Just look at the NPK and your N should be about the sum of the P and K for grow stage.

    Ok time for an update:

One of my Afghan seeds has popped and I'm hoping that the other three will soon follow.

I've also changed my lighting yet again. My newest light is still a 400watt MH but this system is switchable. Now I can use the same reflector and ballast for both MH and HPS, which, when it comes time to force flowering, will make my life much easier.

More pictures to come soon. Peace.

Another update. Crystal is getting huge at 18days old. She's now way over her pot's rim and growing nodes like the slut that she is, God love her. She's also got a lot of activity going on at the junction of her stems, little leaves sprouting between every one. Something strange is happening too. At the top she's growing more leaves but they are longer and much thinner than her others. Is it possible for her to have sativa and indica characteristics? If this is a stupid question, please forgive my ignorance.
As for the Afghan sprouts....three have popped through the soil now. Sophie, Olivia and Jody are their names. Poor Olivia....I was cleaning up some things in her soil, large pieces of bark like substance when I accidently pulled her out of the soil. Luckily I didn't break her tap root, so I replanted her and she seems to be doing fine, except that she's a bit premature. Her seed leaves have sprouted, but her first set of true leaves are miniscule. I sure hope I didn't kill her. (Time will tell)
Jody on the other hand is very strange. She's got a stem, but she's wearing her seed like a soldier's helmet. What's that about? The seed looks much bigger than it did when I planted it and it's covering her, though she still has her stem. So she looks exactly like a seed with a stem. Might she be a mutant? Weird. Jody's the girl in the miracle grow soil.
Still no sign of the fourth sprout. Hopefully she'll pop soon.
Pics to follow this evening. Peace.

Well as bad luck would have it, I came home to find one of my CFL's was slightly pressed against Crystal's largest leaf. Fortunately, only the very tip was singed, very slight. Here's to hoping that doesn't have a negetive effect on her growth. Something strange though, Crystal actually moved her other leaves out of the way. I came home to find she was all bunched up. Is this normal? Can plants protect themselves like that? I've gotten rid of the CFL's now and she's starting to get back to her original plant self.
As for the nursery....Olivia is fighting hard to survive, despite her very rough start. There is a bit of yellowing on one of her cotyledons and she hasn't grown much but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll pull through.
Her older sister, Sophie, grew quite a bit more today and seems to be on the right track.
Jody is starting to ditch her helmet. Her cotyledons (sp?) are going to be twice the size of her sisters. Go Miracle Grow....although she'll probably taste like shit...lol....
Lilly is just starting to pop through the soil.

Ok. I've finally got some updated pics of Crystal.

pic 1- Crystal at 19days old. It's hard to see how bushy she is in this picture.
pic 2- Crystal from the top. (Thick and bushy)
pic 3- Side view! Check out the stem in that pic! Proof that a fan can do wonders.
pic 4- Crappy cell phone pic of my seedlings. (2 healthy and 2 not so healthy)

Well, I'm sad to say that Lilly isn't doing to well. She hasn't stood straight up yet and although I'm an optimist, I don't think she's going to make it. The last picture is of my little crippled Olivia. Her seed leaves are nearly dead, but her true leaves are still growing, so I'll continue to try to keep her alive. Who knows, she might surprise me.

Sophie is getting bigger though it's hard to tell from the pics. Jody finally ditched her "helmet" and is looking real nice. The seedlings are now 2 days up from the soil.

I've also germinated two more seeds and will keep you posted.
