Hello.

I was talking with a friend the other day. Our conversation ranged from trying to understand the quantum physical universe, to what insence stick provided the best aroma.
At one point, she told me about ICE numbers.

I asked her what an ICE number was, and this (in essence) is what she told me....

Apparently, in the UK, the emergency services are trained to look for an ICE number on the casualty's mobile phone.
The ICE number would hold contact details for the best person to be contacted in the event of an emergency - parents, doctor, etc.

I was agast that this wasn't common knowledge, and so thought to share my new-found info with all of you..

Surely, there should be a card or something, inserted into every box of a new mobile phone...you know.."Have you remembered to type in your ICE number?"

pretty much like if sum1 was in trouble you would look for info on who they are ppl ususally get the wallet n see if they have a card with there personal contact details on it but i suppose yer they cudlk @ ur phone.

Yes, but how do the emergency services know that they are your emergency numbers?

If all they have to do is type I C E into your phone, they can be sure that they are reading your emergency contact details, init

Alright, but the thing is....if.... its easier to have a universal method, rather than having to have someone scroll through your contact list, it would be more efficient to just type I C E and find it that way!
