    Redesigning the grow box

Hey all, I am working on keeping my plant count at or below 5 plants due to local laws. So here are my current plans.

This will all be in a closet by the way.

Two boxes, one for a mother, and another for clones + flowering. The current plan is to keep the mother alive and take clones... stick the clones in the larger box and veg them, and then flower them. This way I have 1 mother + 4 clones = 5 plants.

    Mother's Box: 16/8

    9.5" x 16" x 30"
    3 x 26 Watt (100w equiv. - 300w) CFLs (GE Daylight/Cool Bright) - 6500k color temp
    Passive intake
    One 32 cfm PC fan

    Clone/Flower Box: 18/6 - 12/12

    20" x 24" x 36"
    3 x 26 Watt CFLs (100w equiv. - 300w) - (GE Warm White) - 2700k color temp
    3 x 42 Watt CFLs (150w equiv.- 450w) - (GE Cool White) - 4100k color temp
Equally Distributed Passive Intake (i designed it to allow air to be sucked in from all four sides of the base of the box without light leaks, pretty sweet)
Equally Distributed Fan Intake 2x32 CFM (similar to passive intake but at the very top of the box)
    Carbon Filter

Both boxes will have ducts going into the wall... haha I know it sounds funny, but there is a service hole in the wall going to the bathtub, it is a perfect place to shoot out all the warm air.

These guys are going to be in dirt with pearlite. I just found a local shop that sells FoxFarm products.

I will first be LSTing these guys, then later I'm going to give SCROG a try.

Do you think this is a decent setup for my goals?
What foxfarm products should I pick up?
Have you guys found any good ways to duct air without losing too much air pushing power?
Could you guys comment on my light selection?
Do you have any suggestions on where I can get decent soil?

    Thanks all!

Yes. Also, you are just sticking the clones directly into flowering? Vegging for some time could possibly increase yield. Depending on how big mother is and the size of the closet, you could veg in the mother room for a while and then put into flower room. Once the prepetual harvest gets under way, you would probably only need to take one or two clones at a time, making it doable. I can't really get a picture of the closets without an actual picture.:smokin:

I use and recommend the regualr potting soil. I want to try the ocean forest potting soil. It does cost a little more, but is probably better than the regular.
As for fertilizer, get all the soil ones if you can. Grow big (veg), Big Bloom (flower), Tiger Bloom (flower).

Well, the less bends in the ducting, the better the flow. Try to keep them to a minimum.

Looks good to me, from what I've read on what lumens to use for each stage of the plant. I did not learn of this until after I had all of my bulbs but I still had a sucessful grow. If you can, try the hydroponics store for one of them odor neutralizing CFLs, wouldn't hurt to add one to each box.

The store where you found fox farm doesn't sell their soil? Otherwise check hydroponic stores. I also use vermicultite with perlite in my soil. They make a good combo for proper aeration.

    Good luck:thumbsup:

Well, the idea I had was to use the larger box for veg AND flower. I'd have a mother that was a known female to get little cloneys from to increase yield through not having to crap shoot with seeds and males.

Awesome! I'll pick some potting soil up tomorrow.

    Alright, I'll do my best.

Odor neutralizing CFLs?!?!!?! I'm going to have to get some info on these...

I have yet to actually travel to this store. I have found the whereabouts of it through foxfarms website.

    Good luck:thumbsup:
    Thanks man! Stay outta trouble.

You could use the larger box for flower (12/12) exclusively. The veg/mother box would be (18/6). I have a known mother, and just take clones and veg em for a while then put them into flowering. That's what i'm doing.

I thought of that, but then I would have to have a larger box for vegging, which I don't really have the space for. I would also be tempted to have mother + 4 clones + 4 veg which ends up being a Class D Misdemenor in my state, whereas five plants is Class E.

I'm gonna take a look at those links, thanks a lot.

One is 6 mo and $1000 fine, and the other is 1 year and $2000 fine. Not to bad compared to most states, but still.

I never realized it was 5-100 LOL. I love Maine.

Taiden, you might think about only flowering 2 clones at a time. The way you can have (1) Mum, (2) vegging, and (2) flowering. It will help you out. You can LST the 2 clones into the same space you could fit 4 in. Just a thought.

I'll see what the space feels like when I get there...

Couldn't I LST 4 plants in the same space as four vertical plants? I was planning on LSTing in the first place.

It was my understanding that the point of LSTing was to get as much out of a small space as possible without cutting down the number of plants in a box.

In Vermont they have a two plant misdemeanor which is a civil fine ($150 is normal). There is also wording for determining a plant (must show sex, mature) from seedlings so a starting flat would not necessarily be considered a felony.
