Do you mean HPS? If so, that's what I do. I use all HPS for veg and bloom. I have used MH for a full cycle as well. It really doesn't make much difference which light you use. You can get good results with either light.

If you're not talking about HPS then I don't know.

Sounds like he's talking about a "red" reflector bulb, great for christmas, bad for plant. Too much heat, not enough output, stick to HPS or MH like perp said.
