Everyone loves a FREAK... the mutant thread!

Again, not really a freak, but interesting nonetheless...

I do vermiculture (worm bucket) to get my organic fertilizer for free. I tumble it once or twice a day to aid in the decomp of the vegetable matter I throw in there. Tonight, when I opened up the lid to toss in some used tea leaves, I saw some neat stuff!

On the left is some form of myocilial growth. It's a transparent tube that just arcs across. On the right is a hairy spikey purplish greyish mushroom thing. Tres cool! So cool I had to get a closer look.

Well this ones kinda freaky, or maybe not - I haven't grown from seed that often. It's a bagseed thats anywhere from 5-25 years old, just found it rolling around at the bottom of a desk drawer and threw it into germination. Germed in 1 day, but took forever to pop out of the ground, and then another 10 days of just the cotyledons (sp?). It looks like it topped itself at the first node, but there is a tiny tiny set of leaves on that middle nub. In these pics it is 27 days old, and just now am I noticing any type of real growth between days. Since I got some room I figured I'd let it go and see if its a she

i bet that mushroom is linked to the tube or somethin underground,

did you know the largest living organism known to man is a mushroom... you woulda thought it would be a tree, the mushrooms were thought to be growing seperately, until someone made the discovery and found one giant organism growing underground, which sent mushrooms up to the surface at night... dunno why lol

heres a link and a quote...

In the state of Washington U.S.A. in the foothills of Mount Adams, a specimen of the fungus Armillaria ostoyae covers 1,500 acres and seems to be 400-1,000 years old. This is the largest living organism in the world.

When I used to mow lawns for a living, sometimes I'd find these crazy ass mushrooms at this one house I did every week. They had really weak thin white stalks, and a ribbed brownish colored cap that never opened. The cap was insanely sticky too, so I'd snag the mushrooms by the stem and throw them at things. It was cool, they'd stick and the string-like stem would just hang. By the next day they'd be shriveled up into something that looked like a small piece of dogshit lol. Fungus is crazy.

Yes, I know it's whorled phytolaxy, and not triploidy. Anyway, first roots are forming on the tri-node clone.

I changed the water once after 3 days. Going to change it once more over the weekend. I'm taking no special care of it. I wrapped a piece of construction paper around the jar, and set it on a table in the back where it gets an hour of sunlight, then ambient room light.

    Tentative timetable:
1.7 - change water, weak worm tea.
1.14 - set into dirt, same location.
1.21 - set to veg, 24/7 in the aquarium.

Dunno where I'm gonna take it from there. Depends if the branches on the clone display the same tri-node thing, and if it's a girl. By then I should know sex on the parent plant.
