I take it you don't live in an area with a lot of Muslims. The San Fran Bay Area does have a pretty large Muslim population and I can say that very, very few women wear the full burkah (although I have seen some and will admit the last time I was in a store and saw one with the full Taliban style, even covering the eyes, burkah I made myself scarce pretty quickly). Most will wear the head scarf at most, but a lot don't even wear that. Maybe they're just liberated Muslims, if that's possible.

I don't have any that are close friends and haven't really spent a lot of time discussing issues with my parents neighbors. I do know that after 9/11 they made a point of going around, to the folks they knew in the neighborhood, to let people knew that they condemned the act and also know that they supported our going after the Taliban and Al Qeada in Afghanistan.
