It is hella annoying when people try to sound sophisticated or deep. I totally get where he is coming from.Frivolous248 Reviewed by Frivolous248 on . Cellar door. J.R.R Tolkien once said that of all the possible combiantions of words in the English language, Cellar Door was the most linguistic. Does anyone know what this means? It sounds slightly ominous. I think it is a beautiful -hrase, especially in Poe's *the raven* which is where i believe the director made the mistake.

i dunno.. i just feel like theres so many better phrases that have made chills run down my spine when i heard them. cellar door (to me at least) just sounds like what it is, and when those two words are said to be oh so amazing.. i dont know its jsut kind of pathetic.

Isn't "cellar door" being used out of all the words in the english alphabet in every combination supposedly the most beautiful sounding, according to Donnie Darko?

It was Tolkien, and yes, he thought the words "cellar door" were pretty-sounding, if the claims about his having said that are true.
