I like to use a rooting powder that I sprinkle on the root ball and inside the hole before I place the new plant in it. I never have any noticeable stress or shock after the transplant, and I also use some Super Thrive in the water that I apply after the plant is in the hole. I usually water until a little water is running out of the drain holes in the bottom. At that point I won't have to water for a few days.
