I would say you need to relax on your technique. I too use the glass of water method. I only add soil after the seeds have cracked open and sprouted. Assuming they will germinate simply because they sink is where you failed. Now that you know this you can progress onwards. I would assume that those seeds were bad therefore you can clone what you have and live happily everafter.

Sad situation I put ten recently purchased (from a very reputable store in Amsterdam) Blue Haze seeds in a lukewarm glass of water for a few days until they all sank, and then planted them in nice seed start mix and with a lovely warming pad...and only 4 germinated, and of those 4, one is a runt that I doubt will survive. So I waited a few more days, then I gently exhumed the seeds that weren't coming up- and they looked the same as they did when I planted them! So I plunked them back into the water and put Rating: 5
