Random good deeds
I was just reading nochowderforyou's post about how he saved the cab driver and it made me think about how i do random good deeds some times just to be a good person.
like one time i was walking into a grociery store and randomly asked this woman and her child if they needed up loading some sodas intro her car.
and i just think its a good thing to do this sometimes...and it also makes u feel better about urself

Abattoir Dream, i think it is sad that you feel that way, but you do what you must; and no one has any right to tell you that you are wrong. I have to ask you though, what do you do when you need assistance?

I think random acts of kindness are wonderful things. The neat thing is when we consciously work at doing that, it helps us as much as it does others. Volunteering is the same way.

Just the other day I was on the bus (I don't drive) and this lady comes on, with about 4 grocery bags of stuff, pushing a baby carriage, and instructing a 6yr old child, which can be hard as they are, wll, children, you know. She goes to the back of bus, I'm sitting at the front, and as she sits down, she drops one of her bags, and it went down the stairs. Where she was sitting, was kind of up above compared to the rest of the bus, don't ask me why, she had a baby carriage, seems like a pain in the ass to me. Anyways, there is a person no more than 2inches where her bag fell, but, you think they would grab it for her as she had her hands full, and looked very tired, but no. They sit there and stare at this womens bag on the floor, not even moving to pick it up. I mean, the bus was full, and no gets up to help her. So, I walked all the way to the back of the bus, picked up her bag for her, and handed it to her.
I'm telling you, some people. It's a bag, just pick the fucking thing up for her!

You're a great gentleman, Nochowder. Thank you on behalf of tired mothers everywhere. I remember how grateful I was when people assisted me, offered me seats, or held doors for me when I was pregnant or when my son was very small. Those little courtesies meant a lot. Nowadays when I see moms out with two, three, or sometimes four small children, I frankly don't see how they have the courage or energy to leave the house. (Except that they desperately need a change of scenery, I'm sure.) I realize I had it very easy with only one.

I don't know if it counts as a good deed but once in awhile I'll get $5 made into quarters and I'll leave the quarters around, like on the sidewalks or at school or whatever so people can find them and have their day brightened a little.

Sometimes I'll help people with groceries or give the pregnant girls at my school a place to sit. Most of the time people don't accept my help because they see me and think, "Punk ass teenager who's about to rob me." This really actually bothers me. About a week after I moved into my apartment I ask this older woman who lives below me if I could use her phone because I was locked out of my house. I was being polite, like usual, and she goes "No." and slams the door in my face. Well I was sitting there on the steps waiting for my dad to come home and I heard her telling her husband about how I came to the door and she thought I was gonna come in and rob her, like she saw on the news. Now, I have no problem with that. All she did, in her mind, was protect herself, but the husband told her that I was the kid that lived upstairs and she explained how she didn't care, should could tell I was just a punk.
