the Primus show...
SUCKED
Okay. We had tickets to go see Primus. They had this very odd band open up for them called Go Go Jungle. Yeah. Had a bass, drums, and a freakin xylophone. Right. Use your imagination on that one. Then we wait. And wait. Wait just a little more. Finally, Primus is here. They sound awesome. I am ready for an awesome show. No, nothing in life is that easily come by. Let me start by saying I saw Primus 15 years ago. They rocked the house for almost 3 hours. Now. I dont know what the deal was but they played 9 songs. Nine songs. I paid 65 bucks a ticket for 9 songs. They played for one hour and seven minutes. Did you read that? ONE HOUR AND SEVEN MINUTES. We spent a lot of time getting there. The snow had transporatation so screwed up, and at one point we stood outside while it was snowing, for 45 minutes, waiting. We walked over a half mile in 2 feet of snow. Uphill. And in return, I got 9 songs. Yes. Primus indeed sucked. I would like a refund.

Damn, that sounds like a fucking joke. REcently at some stupid music thing in England Wacko Jacko did 1 song and only sung 3 words... people were pretty pissed off with him... or it might have because he had a load of little kids dancing on stage rofl.

I'd be more sympathetic if it didn't seem like you're hating on the xylophone. Frog Brigade has a xylophone player (additional percussionist) and its usually pretty awesome. My imagination is a pretty amazing thing.
As for the long wait and short set, maybe you should be more understanding. From what I hear transportation was a major issue because of all the snow...
Primus sucks. I've already got my ticket to the hatter's ball.

well...the rolling stones were here last weekend, and they played over 2 hours..it was the cant miss show of the year and the reviews were awesome....as for the xylophone, well, was not what you would have expected..there werent even lyrics, just a bunch of stuff that sounded the same and made you think of band camp...and primus, they were so mellow, everyone was sitting down most of it......the bottom line is, there is nothing to make up for 9 songs..a concert should def be more than an hour....

I saw them in Chicago like 2 weeks ago, and I'm gonna stick up for PRIMUS, and here's why:
Though the show was only one set, they NEVER fail to pack as much music into that set. It's nonstop, basically. I paid $50 something to see them at the Aragon Ballroom, and it was worth every penny. The energy they played with, specifically Les, was so infectious. The entire crowd was going insane. What more can you ask for?
That being said, the "crowd" as a whole is what is bringing PRIMUS down. At every show, some drunk jackass throws a bottle or some foreign object on stage, many times at the band themselves. Les actually walked off stage 45 min. in a month or so ago because he'd had enough. The fans are a bit rowdy at times, and that's a clear example.
He actually stopped the show in Chicago and said "you know it never fails that I see someone flicking me off. But it puzzles me. Why would you want to pay money to flick me off. I'm all about peace and love. How about showin' me the other end?" Everyone could sense the aggitation in his voice. He's fed up. So in return, he gives rowdy, ungrateful "fans" a shorter show. He has played 2 sets on this tour, only once, and early on. Every show after that, someone pisses him off and they cut it.
That's why the shows are so short, personally. They don't need to play 2.5 hours when they've worn out the crowd in 1.5. And if you're not worn out, you shouldn't be there. Plus if Les isn't digging the vibe, he has and will again cut it short. Why? Because he's Les fucking Claypool. PRIMUS is still huge, and they can play one sick set and call that a show. And it is, each and every time.
I went to their show expecting it to be short, so I was not disappointed. They blew my face away, and were "Too Many Puppies" short of the best show I've seen, ever. To be let down is one thing, but to say they suck hurts my eyes! ~
