It's not a huge risk, but when the virus software needs updating, update it and let it do its thing. If you ignore the updates, your computer will slow down.
I download all the time from Limewire and my comp. runs fine. I use Trend Micro-PC-cillin and it does auto updates and cleans my computer daily of any harmful things that come up. It catches things all the time, so it works just fine.

i'm too damn lazy to be careful and i'll download anything on a dare, but i keep my AV up to date and its kept me relatively clean.
Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

use ares. its better and safer than limewire. and free, dont pay for it man, i did and then found out i got scammed.

...You have to run it to check for viruses though. Some have protection (lol) and may auto-run and scan your PC, but not all.
Useful Tip: Norton SUCKS. Especially when combined with McAfee, since one uses the front end file of a virus, and the other the back end, install both and you will have the full blown virus on your computer.
