HELP!! CLONE PROBLEMS!!!

In need of help...

They're about 2 weeks old, and not much happening, so I took a very gentle peek at a couple.
Where the roots should be, the stem has formed a round knot, a ball. The balls look quite healthy, the same color roughly as healthy roots.
I think my medium (Oasis) has been too wet.
I had to peel away a bit of the oasis to see, so I carefully replaced them back in larger oasis cubes with root hormone.

Any ideas on what this is and whether they can be saved?

I personally don't have the answer, as I am most likely newer to this than you. I will talk to a few buddies though and see if I get any information, and I am sure someone from the site will help you. Best of luck, stay positive! :thumbsup:

did you cut at the node? i had it happen to one of mine that was a node clipping of another clone...

other than that, i'm stumped (not trying to pun)

KP, just above, I also left bare at least one stripped node that was powdered with root hormone and went into the oasis. The only possible things I can think of are that the clones were too small, and that the oasis may have been too wet.
What happened to your one?

Roots will grow without a root stimulant...it's just much more difficult. Ever remember seeing a pothos hanging vine growing in a vase? You can almost bet that wasn't done with a root stimulant. Look at the ingredients of root hormone...it's acid based. You shouldn't introduce more than a quick 5-10 second dunk in root stimulant ever in the plants life. The plant has all the nutirients it needs to make roots, the acid just stimulates the growth. Rooting can take up to 2 weeks depending on the conditions. Also, oasis has to be in original form, you can't just tear into it to find the roots. The clone needs the structure of the oasis to support itself and find nutrients. Let the plant do it's thing, just give it the environmental factors it needs.

I was very, very careful when peeking into the oasis, and I placed them back into bigger cubes, still within the original cube.
I dunno, I was reading earlier that clones that take longer than 2 weeks may produce weaker plants...

You can't really have a weaker plant since they are all the same plant to begine with. It's how each plant is treated separately that gives them different personality. Let's look at the condition of the host plant. Is it in vegitative state? Did you take a cut THREE nodes down? Are there enough leaves on the clone to give it the light energy it needs to make it's roots? Is the humidity high enough around the clones? They need a humidity dome over them and the dome itself sprayed with water. (not the clone) How much nutrients are in you water? Can you take a pic?

Yes, one of the two problems I can come up with, is that I took the clones from too far down, out of stingyness (didn't want to waste any potential good bud sites), but I didn't go insane and just nip a couple of twigs either.

They all had at least 2, some had 3 nodes. I left the tops.

One would think the genetics would remain unaffected, but I've never read anything other than you should keep the clones that take off best, because they'll grow best, despite coming from the same mother...
The host was in veg, but now in flower, so can't re-clone.

Yes, in a hume dome, and I sprayed the dome, not the plants. But no nutes.

Anyway, I'd love to know what that knot/ball is at the bottom of the stem where the roots should be...I think knwoing what that is would tell me how to proceed.

sorry for taking so long...

i took the wierd ones and disposed of them...mad hat, you're off a little.

yes, it is the same plant, but look at a plant. notice the top is the most lush, while side branches aren't as healthy looking? same principle. i use only the best of rooted clones. if they take longer than 7 days, they go into the compost. i'm trying to go for the best, and likeso, have had excellent results.

you should be using no nutes whatsoever. and as for the 5 second dunk, how would that work when the product stays on the stem and node as you place it in the medium?

i use regular old potting soil. i moisten til saturated, wait 30 mins for drainage, then cut clones. i remove 1 node, and angle cut just beneath the node. about 80 to 90 percent success (i kill the weak looking ones, as i have 4 moms.) i mist the leaves, because there is no humidity dome. i don't need one.

i put clones in the shade for 3 days, then transfer to floro room.
