    Water curing redux

Okay, the previous thread was locked, presumably because of my intermitent fits of rage(props to the mods for putting up with that and not banning me). So let's discuss this honestly, no more name calling, no more craziness. Here is the important part of my previous posts:

People who disagree with me, tell me, specifically, what part you are confused with, and I will do my best to explain it to you.

Let's define potency. Potency(percent) = amount of active chemical(grams)/total amount of substance (grams)
We can all agree honey oil is more potent than regular bud, because there is alot of THC over less material. Let's say regular put is 5% potency, and honey oil is 50%. I know these are incorrect, they are just to prove my theory. So lets say you take 60 grams of dry bud, and divy it up into 3 groups of 20 grams. There is 1 gram of THC in each group of bud, making it 5% potency (1/20=0.05=5%). Now you make honey oil with one group(let's pretend this is a lossless process), and you end up with only 2 grams of total material, one of which is THC. That means your honey oil is 50% potency (1/2=0.5=5%). Now you water cure one group, and loose 10 grams of shit in the water. That means you end up with only 15 grams of water-cured bud, but it's 10% potency(1/10=0.1=10%). Let's see what our three groups are like now:

    weight thc potency
    Regular bud 20g 1g 5%
    Water-cured 10g 1g 10%
    Honey oil 2g 1g 50%

As you can see, we have not magically gained any THC, there is no voodoo going on. The water cured is more potent than the regular bud, but you still only have 1g of THC.

Now, ask your questions, I'll do my best to explain them.

I have done it. I submerged the freash cut and trimed bud in water and stored it in a dark cool place, then carefully changed the water each day. I belive the science behind it is reverse osmosis (probably spelt wrong).
I didn't really compare the weight loss and didn't notice the improved potency but it makes sence. The taste wasn't as good as the buds i dryed and cured normally but it took just over a month campared to 2weeks.
I think i will try it again and mabe even put it in a mason jar to cure further once it is dry and see if the taste inproves.

chris: THC is not water soluble, so no, you wouldn't be able to ruin it. You'd just have to dry it.

From what I've heard, you should put it in water, change the water daily for a week, then let it dry like normal. You'll loose some flavor, but it will be slightly more potent and smoother.

As long as you keep it reasonably still I think the trichromes should stay on just fine.

Warm water will probably absorb the most shit.

Anyways, I invite bobbong, LIP, stinkyattic, thathippiekid, latewood, and everyone else who doesn't believe in the magic of algebra to come to this thread...

I don't think you're going to convince any one of those people, and another thread to argue the same point as in that other closed thread is like beating a dead mule.

For the record, I agree with your calculations. You are correct in every way. I think the others are judging potency by how high they would get, which I agree you probably wouldn't get any higher because the amount of trichomes you lost (yes, there is some loss) is equal to the amount of plant material loss, so they mostly cancel out.

Look at it this way. When you make hash oil out of a certain strain of marijuana, you increase the potency of the product, even though its still of the particular strain. You are just isolating the thc from the rest of the plant material. Water curing does this on a much smaller scale.

Personally, I think the water cure method is a waste of time because you still need to dry normally after the dunking period and the amount of improvement you get is not very much.

1st off...when you water cure...You use dried bud...not fresh cut.

Listen, asshole, that comment you made about me fucking my algebra teacher in high school was WAY out of line and I have NO INTEREST IN ARGUING WITH YOU.

BTW I got near perfect scores on my SATs and GREs.

But thanks for the invite anyway.
