weed after surgery?

I'm hoping someone will have some advice...
My boyfriend had surgery on his foot about 2 1/2 weeks ago after he broke it in several places. It's still bleeding in some areas, and is still healing and he could really use a toke to ease the pain.
The docter told him to quit smoking cigarretts becuase it could slow the healing process, does anyone know if that applies to weed as well?
If you have any advice about whether or not it would be a good idea, please write back.

I wouldnt really want to say for sure because im not sure and i wouldnt want to stop ur boyfreind getting better.....but id be inclined to agree with Lulu that it would be fine, just steer clear of the tobacco.

Ask the doctor, they can only give you a straight answer and cant report you or anything like that. When my friend was in hospital the Doctors were laughing about the ammount of THC in his body!

Had a hernia op, went home the same day , lit up on arriving home.
Had op to reset broken cheekbone , went home , lit up.
I never stopped smoking before or after any of my numerous ops.
I'm still here and still alive so I guess it can't be that bad.

i got surgery on my eardrum...they like patched it or somethin.it hurts. when i smoke it feels sooooo much better put it like enhances the fact that i CANT HEAR OUT OF THE DAMN THING... its kinda cool though cuz all noise is comin from one side lol

my dr let me go outside to smoke before my herniea op and said it is worse when you smoke cigs,,after waking up pot no prob,,cigs,,cough for days,,

I'm very interested at what you guys are saying. I will have surgery on my nose in a week. First of all I've been pretty stupid not to tell the Doctor I smoked weed daily. I answered the do you smoke question with a no while I do smoke but joints only
Some of you say it's ok to smoke weed as long as there's no cigarette in it, however I heard that anything that rises your blood pressure is bad for the healing process. Here's what I plan on doing : smoke until the day before the surgery, then smoke like a week after the surgery. Do you think I can get back at it earlier ? I'd have all the time to blow with no work at all...

smoke the day u get the surgery and after. my friend got his molers taken out and toked up the same day. didn't slow down expected healing time at all
