1000kyea i would say as long as you can keep the top of the canopy at the right temp you should put it as close as possible....:twocents: \" knowledge is not power, knowledge is potential power\"

What are the circumstances that have caused you to put your light at 3 FEET?

Your COLAS will be MUCH MUCH bigger if you can get that light 12 inches from your canopy.

1000kSeriously that's my exact problem. It hit 97 degrees in my grow room last week... November... New England... wTF. The plants pretty much live on a diet of silica blast.

1000kget a bathroom exhaust fan and install in the top of the closet immediately temperatures that high can hermie them, stunt them, and or kill them. you'll need an air vent in the door (or adjacent wall) so the room can "draw in" cooler air; that is once you put a fan in the ceiling.

1000k4x5, thanks for the advice but it's not a closet. It's the whole damn attic.

I've been culling/picking herms carefully and not having any other issues other than excessive water usage. I use Silica Blast to protect my plants from temperature stress, and I have to say it seems to be working nicely.

1000kIt's a silica supplement that is said to help plants resist heat and drought stress.
I'm actually going to be taking advantage of my heat problem and adding CO2 shortly.
Now that the outdoor temps are down, the attic is fine. It was just for a week AFTER I removed the a/c and installed my 'winter' HPS1000 but the weather outside simply refused to behave winterly.
