although there is no sure-fire way, there are a few principles
dig the holes not only deeep but WIDE.. wider holes = wider root system=wider stem and of course, stronger bigger buds. sun is also a big factor, as you live in texas this shouldn't be a huge problem, but you may want to consider high temps and drought, and it might be smart to mulch your soil or have some undergrowth around your hole to keep it from drying out too much in the texas sun (im from ny but i can imagine it gets a bit hot and dry eh?) another big thing is nitrogen content of the soil which can be achieved by commercial additives or compost, compost of course being cheaper. you should also look into organic ferts, theyre not all that expensive esp. if youre only using it on a couple plants. i like foxfarm brand but that's just my opinion. sorry for rambling but hope this helps! :thumbsup:
