Wheelchair (brand) Weed?

Just met a new friend a few days back, and he gave me some seeds (45 of 'em) that he said were "wheelchair weed" outta BC, that a farmer friend of his had been growing for years. Allegedly feminized. He kept referring to it as a specific strain, not as a class. I.e., I call any weed that "cripples" me wheelchair weed or polio weed. Has anyone else heard of a strain called wheelchair weed? Outta BC?

I find mention of the wheelchair strain in another thread here, but no specifics.

I also find another mention of the strain which indicated a "clone only" strain called Wonderview Wheelchair.

99.9% of hits were about the class rather than the strain.

I'm throwing 2 of the seeds to see what I can learn from growing 'em, but any further info would be much appreciated!

Wheelchair weed isn't a bran or strain of seed. It is just a slang word for a mind blowing, couchlock high, commonly strains that are mostly Indicas. That's what it is around here anyways.

If that's what you're after, look for some potent Indica strains. Try Rockbud from Soma seeds. It's a 100% indica strain and gives the definition to wheelchair weed.

I encouraged my guy to get in touch with the grower in BC, and here's what I found out about this (private? semi-private?) strain:

1) Started 20 years ago as an Afghani indica. Over the years, he's bred in various strains, including Northern Lights & Haze, but others as well. Mostly indicas? I'm trying to get more detail.

2) There are 2 3-year-old mothers of the current variety. There are also 3 5-year-old mothers / 1 father of an earlier variety. Also a Grandmother? (Dunno) Clones are avail from the 3-year-olds, but the 5 year-olds are for breeding only?

3) Seeds were "feminized" by "self-pollenation" of hermaphroditic offspring of[father x 3-year-olds] breeding in a controlled environment. (I.e., pollenate a 3-year-old clone with father, sprout seeds, toss males, save seeds from girls that go hermi) He was making seeds to find the next generation mother. 100s of seeds avail.
..i) Sprouts run about 80% female, 15% male, 5% trash.
..ii) 30 days veg / 60 days flower indoor
..iii) Outdoor will adapt to season, very hardy. Can get huge outdoors.
..iv) 18"-24" / 45cm-60cm veg height
..v) Will not breed true: females fertilized by males (from these seeds) will not produce consistent young. Something about Inbreeding vs Hybrid Vigor.

Of course, this could all be a load of bull, too...

Well a hermie plant is more likely to have hermie seeds than female seeds, but the ratio of males is down a bit more than usual.

Just grow a few out and look for hermies, that could dramaticly bring down the yield of your crop.

I moved Wheels to her new digs. I couldn't make the cam reach, so no pics of root, but were a few thickish threads pressed against the pot. I put her into my "standard" pot, a 7kg kitty litter bucket w/drainage holes cut in. I set her off to the side somewhat in case she start shooting up and I need to tie her down. (LST)

Back in the ancient old days, I managed to grow a super killer plant that everyone wanted, and one of my friends at the time called it "wheelchair weed" and we laughed our asses off. We hadn't ever heard the term before, but the stuff did knock you on your ass.. It was remarkable.

I even remember I grew it from in a 3 gallon bucket, no drainage, I baked the potting soil, and layered miracle grow granules every 3 inches or so, and poured steaming water in the pot. The next day, I popped a single seed in the center and put it under a shop light.

That was it. lmao

It worked crazy good but I certainly would not recommend it. But 20+ yrs ago it made perfect sense to me

Anyway, that was all off-topic, sorry. The name must have been universally apt for use.

A little past 3 weeks, and I'm going to switch lights from 24/7 to 18/6, and put her into bud prpoer on the Jan 4th full moon.

I just noticed that one of the branches is triploid. Rest of plant is bi-lateral. LOL! I see it in the pic above, too.
