Heres what I have to work with, what can I do?

I have 4 CFLs for the time being, about 500 watts total. 2 2700K, and 2 5100K. I have about 8,000 lumens to work with.

I have a possible grow cab - measurements are 14.75DX27wX27T.

What do you guys think I could work out with a simple small - beginner setup like this?

500w and only 8000 lumens doesn't seen right at all, unless they are equiv. to 500w incandescent. to answer you question though, sure put it together, but as soon as you start seeing the growth, you'll get addicted and start thinking for more and more ways to improve, also just keep reading everyone elses grows there is a lot of info throughout this site.

you don't go by the high wattage on the package you go by the low 1. example: 150watt=about 42watts. the high wattage number means nothing it is just for comparison to incandescents.

use the 150hps along with the cfls. i had a 150hps + 164 watts of cfls in a scrog cab. and i yeilded 5-5 1/2 oz regularly.

you should be good on CFLs, i think it has much potential
go get some mylar from a sporting good store (its packaged as an emergency space blanket usually)
save the HPS for flowering and i would only grow 1-2 plants depending on how big the setup is.
oh and get a camera :thumbsup:

total 208W / 12800L in my 2' x 3' grow space in the closet. These lights are about 1" above the plant tops. At bud time I add 2 ea. 42W CFT 2700K 2660L for a total of 290W / 18120L.

These are all screw in "twisters" avail from Home Depot, Lowe's. Save-On, etc.

Another cheap (usually free) grow-room liner: advertising posters! The backs are shiney white: better than foil & white paint, almost as good as mylar. liquor stores are always throwing out beer posters. Flip 'em over, shiney side out, staple/tape up, and voilá! (I'm a cheap bastard)

that's because the wattages posted are all wrong. where it says 150wat i'm sure it means 42watts, you see what i mean. what's your yeild with all those cfls? i had a 354watt cfl grow that yeilded about 4 1/2 oz continually. just curious what others are yeilding with cfl grows, i could only get 1/3 gram/watt or a bit more with them and i have no prob getting 1gm/watt with the hps bulbs.

Dunno yet. First grow in the new closet. But the vegging looks better than the old setup - same seeds & soil as before - so I'm going to go out on a limb and say I'll get a little less than an oz/plant. So, I have potentially a QP. (5 plants in the tub)

i grow scrog style so i get high yeilds. good luck with the grow. i'll be really curious what your yeild is.
