You blew it dude, sometimes you just got to take the plunge. What's the worse that could happen? Sure, she could think you're a freak, kick you in the balls, you'd puke from the pain and fall down in a pool of your own vomit, and then she'll just walk away and leave you lying there in front of everybody dieing of embarassment, but is that really so bad? And who knows, it could have worked out great. The last time I asked out a girl I met in class, I was nervous as hell and almost didn't go through with it. But I did. Well, that was 10 years ago, and our daughter turned 3 a few months ago.

I personally detest when people "assert" themselves as my friend of facebook. So, I wouldn't want to do that to somebody else. I have no problem with stalking though...jk

I think face to face is better than IM'ing. I know I'm a little late in responding and you have moved on already but I feel like adding my two cents . I think most women find it cute when a guy is shy or nervous. You really should've asked her out for a cup of coffee or something (so she doesn't feel like it's a date). It's always nice to meet new people.

Like you said though, if it was meant to be, you'll see her around again.
