18/6 under red light
Dear fellow growers,
my veg cab is bursting at the seams so I'm gonna move a couple of plants to the flower cab after re-potting.
I was thinking it might be a good idea to let the plants veg for a week longer to allow the new root growth to get established. Will they be ok on 18/6 under a red CFL?
I've read that the red light will cause em to stretch a bit but thats not a problem, are there any other things I need to be aware of, or should I just go straight to 12/12 after re-potting?

give it a day to get used to it, but keep them under blue spectrum lighting dont switch it to red untill you are ready to flower, and put it into 12/12 never do 18/6 during veg 24/7 allways.

no, im not Mr williams,
that 8 hours of darkness isent needed, your plants arent doing anything but sitting there not growing when u do that, they dont need rest because they have all the water and nutes they need to go 24/7, your slowing down the photo period also, thats the time the plants turns light into energy to grow, and when u turn of the light it stops, and takes to to restart once u turn the lights back on.

firstly it's six hours darkness and not eight, secondly plants DO grow in the dark. I am aware that plants grow continually under 24/0 but I also know that they store energy during the day and use it at night. I presume your use of 24/7 was a 'typo' or do you mean 24 hours on/7 hours off?
I personally have found that plants grown from seed on 18/6 flower better than those on 24/0, maybe the roots are able to store more energy, maybe they adjust quicker to the longer dark period - i dunno I'm not a botanist. I also do 18/6 cos I have to worry about the electric bill.
You know what - I'm just gonna flower them and let you get back to pissing in your hydro.

Flip your thesaurus to 'Expert Cannabis Farmer: Antonyms' and you'll see my smiling face, but I can report this: Adding the warm HPS to my 6500 CFL veg lighting only increased the plants' growth rate. They did begin to stretch, but not excessively.
edit: I have to turn the darn thing off to take pictures though. S'like focusing at the sun.
