you should be fine vegging for a week if you wish, but its probably not needed as they should recover fine from any transplanting shock well before buds start to develop.

nah man, I was misunderstood - I've read a number of posts from bongo where he talks about using urine in his hydro, and the last one I saw from him he talks about human faeces too!

mine are all jokes - it was him that got his nickers in a twist Ha ha ha.

This might clear some things up............

This months cannabis Culture Magazine has a big article on why MJ dosn't need darkness. and why the ONLY reason to give it to it is to slow growth, or reduce power consumption.

It says that cannabis plants will grow 3/4 as fast with 18/6 than with 24/0
which would make it a linear curve.

I keep my plants on 18/6 because they grow fast enough. and yes they do grow at night. they grow all the time. but many reactions only take place during the light phase (other than photosynthesis).

thanks harris7, but I aint got a problem with light cycles

I too do 18/6 to keep my bill managable. all I was asking is wether it would be ok to carry on vegging a couple of plants under a red light.

bongo decieded to hijack my thread and make a beef about 24/0 being better than 18/6. if he wants to piss in his hydro than who am i to judge? if I want to run 18/6 then who is he to judge? I wish he would drop the 'i am a growing god' act and stop trying so damn hard to demonstrate his knowledge at every opportunity - it makes me cringe.

god dammit man! you've got me started again....bongo - i'm gonna rip your fucking head off and shit in your neck.

You know what - I'm just gonna flower them and let you get back to pissing in your hydro.
^LOL. If I put quotes in my sig, I'd use this one.

Yea, well, the trend of info recently has tended to lean towards supporting the 24/0 regiment. I understand it's benefits - faster growth. But I also agree with the fact that there are advantages to using the 18/6 schedule. obviously these have been mentioned - power consumption/growth speed (space efficiency).

I am still not 100% convinced that "nothing" beneficial happens during the dark period in veg. I seem to remember reading something about root growth the dark phase. Maybe some other stuff happens. And like emmpey said, he's personally experienced a change in flowering ease when using the 2 different photoperiods. If I were to grow, I would use the 18/6 cycle for several reasons: it was the first photoperiod I learned about, it saves power, ~and most importantly~, It helps control the growth of your plants when you are trying to make your veg plants wait for your flowering cab to be done!

As far as the red light, I would say that it wouldn't hurt to veg them under there for 18/6 for a week or few. 'Ours' were moved from CFL to HPS and vegged under the HPS for a few weeks before they were flipped.

I know you already put them into flower, so there is no use now, but just my opinion. Hope they turn out nice, and hey, now you will have more than one harvest!
