grandma's shoes

my grandmother died a few weeks ago. she left me a TON, literally BOXES and BOXES, of old clothes. she knew i liked retro things so she saved all of her clothes for me for when i got to be her size.

so i'm rummaging thru these boxes of clothes, finding things like bracelets with 'I Love Lucy' beads on them and old hankerchiefs and scarves. at the bottom of the box were these red italian leather mary-janes. TOOO CUTE!!!! and they fit perfectly.

so here i am, wearing my grandma's 40-some year old read leather strappy flats, thinking of her. and you know what, all of her things smell just like the grandma i always loved. smells like jergens sulfur soap and musky perfume.

my mom saw me wearing them today and i could tell that it really touched her to see them.

its good to remember people in little ways.

my grandfather passed in 2002
this weekend i was lookinh thru his stuff
and i found a bottle of whiskey that is very old
it must be atleast 30 years old
i also found pictures from world war 2
and some medals that he earned
i cant believe that no one found this before
somewhere he stashed a german ruger pistol
that was what i was looking for

nice story My grandfather had died earlier this year, and my grandmother died when i was a teen due to illnesses linked to smoking cigarettes her whole life. I was basically raised by her and I have missed her a lot since she passed. When my grandfather passed he left me his wedding band from his marriage with my grandmother. I fully intend to use it as my own once my girlfriend and I get married, got it tucked away in my desk drawer for now
