help me out some one(its about a scale)

my homie has this scale, and he let some one barow it, and anyways, theres a little part missing out of the back, behind were the batterys go into it at....

the max is:300 grams or 11 OZs
and on the back, it also says 15 degres celsious-30degers C

some help on figureing this out would be apreiciated... it dosnt matter if it gets fixed or not... i just want to learn a little bit about electroincs, and the way i learn is by doing something...

umm... ill post a pic as soon as my new cell gets here... theres just a little part missing from behind the batterys.... and the scale is not working....
