"All my possessions for a moment of time."
Those were the last words spoken by Elizabeth I, Queen of England, on her deathbed.
I've often wondered what she was thinking about at that moment. Was there something in her life that she had neglected to do when she had the time? Was there something she regreted? Was she just frightened, and wishing she could delay the inevitable a moment longer?
Whatever she was thinking, clearly she understood that her tremendous wealth was no longer of any value whatsoever at that moment. It was all just worthless junk to her, as she gazed out beyond the precipice of eternity.
If she had her life to live all over again, would she live it any differently?
I don't know. I just wonder.
I hope when my end comes, I find no reasons to need more time...CityBoyGoneCountry Reviewed by CityBoyGoneCountry on . "All my possessions for a moment of time." I don't think I'll leave a beautiful corpse...
I don't want to arrive at death slowly and gracefully, my body in pristine, albeit dead, condition. I'd rather arrive in my grave skidding, tumbling, and crashing- my body in an unrecognizable condition from using every last minute to live life to the extreme
(Figuratively, not literally :P)

I've always believed Elizabeth wasn't talking about material possessions as much as she was simply commenting on the fleeting nature of time and life, of how the "possessions" of her life were completely temporary and insignificant in comparison to the span of history, which she was always keenly aware of.
I hope I don't leave a beautiful corpse, either. I hope it's old, wrinked, worn out, and exhausted from a life fully and completely lived. Heck, I'm only 45, but I'm already halfway there on most of those, except possibly wrinkled. And that's only because I withstand sun well. Here's to people looking down at me in the coffin when I'm 110 and saying, "God, she was old. Check out that skin on her neck."

I want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered into the east wind off a cliff overlooking the ocean.

this instance just reminds of me of the scene in The Labyrinth(yes with David Bowie) where Sarah is trying to be convinced that she can relax and forget about everything because she has her material possessions.
I wish I could have an in depth conversation with a bum that hasnt burnt out on crack. I remember my friend talking about back sometime in the 1920's on a cruise ship, some wealthy men lit their cigars with 100 dollars bills.
I responded with, imagine how thrown off the story would be if a complete bum walked up to these men and lit a cigar with a 100 dollar bill he had found.
i dont think that has much to do with the story.. i guess i kind of got sidetracked... anyway, i hope you see my point.

Love is patient and kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

Something I say is when you die you can't go with a bag of money in your hand, then recently I heard someone say no one lays on their death bed and says that they wish they worked harder, rather they regret not spending more time with their children and loved ones, or missing out on experiences in life.
