Hey everyone. So I've been hearing a couple of different methods of knowing when your girl has reach peak potency and is ready to harvest.

1. Wait until 50% of the pistils have turned amber.

2. I've also heard on Zandor's Grow Report to use a 30x pocket microscope and wait until you have a 50% clear/50% cloudy trichomes. No amber (if I understood correctly if not please tell me).

I am 5 weeks into flowering. On some of the bud, the pistils are begining to turn amber and are curling up. On the rest the pistils are still white.

When looking at the trichomes in a 30x are you looking at the trichomes on the leaves, the pistils themselves or both? Also, I am having a hard time making out the difference between clear and cloudy trichomes. Is it an obvious difference that I should notice or is it something you need pratice in looking for?

This is my first time growing. I have one California Orange Bud female. Breader flowering time suggests 8-10 weeks.

Thoughts or suggestions?
